Coconut Chutney - Hotel style |
I personally like chutneys we get in some hotels here in Bangalore. We usually make chutney's with coriander leaves, coconut and green chillies. But this variety is entirely different and delicious as we add roasted Bengal gram to this . My son too loves this chutney as it will be white in color and doesnot look like a spicy one. It isn't too.
So let's head directly to this yummy, simple coconut chutney recipe.
Ingredients
Fresh grated coconut - 1 cup
Roasted Bengal Gram / Putani - 1/4 cup
Green chillies - 2
Salt to taste
Urad Dal - 1/4 tsp
Garlic cloves - 4-5
Tamarind paste - 1/4 tsp (Optional)
For tempering
Veg Oil - 2 tsp
Few Curry leaves
Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
Hing/ Asafoetida - A pinch
Method
1. Dry roast Urad Dal till slightly brown and add it to a blender jar.
2. Grind all the ingredients mentioned above in a blender to a smooth texture adding water as required. Transfer this to a serving bowl.
2. Prepare the tadka. Heat oil in a tadka pan, add mustard seeds. When they start crackling , add curry leaves and Hing. Remove it from fire and add it to the chutney. Mix well.
Serve it with any South Indian Breakfast you like.
