Chattambade is the most popular South Indian dish. Its called Chattambade because of its shape.
In Kannada, Chat means flat and Ambode or Ambade means vada.
Its made with channa dal and is one of my favourite evening snacks.
So here you go with the delicious mouth watering recipe.
Ingredients
Channa Dal - 1 cup
Onion - 1 big size chopped
Red chilli Powder - 2 tsp
Salt to taste
Oil for frying
Coriander leaves - chopped
Curry leaves
Grated coconut - 2tbsp (Optional).
Method
1. Soak Channa Dal for atleast 30- 40 mins.
2. Coarse grind the channa's without adding water. Shift this to the bowl.
4. Make round balls and flaten it by placing it between your palms.
5. Deep fry these in hot oil in medium flame till they turn are done.
6. Crispy Channa Dal vada is ready to serve.

3. Now add chopped onions, red chilli powder, salt, curry leaves and chopped coriander leaves. Mix all together. You can add Gram flour or besan, if needed to get the right shape as shown in the picture.

5. Deep fry these in hot oil in medium flame till they turn are done.
6. Crispy Channa Dal vada is ready to serve.
